Fine Art in Baton Rouge!

Fine Art is Abundant in Baton Rouge and today, April 9, 2016, you will have the opportunity to view lots of art and purchase some too!  

From 4-7 p.m. the Baton Rouge Art League sponsors their spring show and reception at the Burden Rural Life Museum off of Essen Lane.  Probably 100 pieces of fine art for you to view!

Then tonight from 5-8 p.m. N the Art Space holds their spring open house which inclues the grand opening for Biletnikoff Gallery.  These are at the Settlement at Bocage on Jefferson Hwy.  This open house is in 4 buildings with over 35 artists in all different mediums.  A great place to see a lot of different art and meet the artists!

Fun Things to Do in Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Baton Rouge offers an abundance of activities for all ages.  Here is a sampling of things coming soon:

Friday, Oct 16  Toulouse-Lautrec Satellite Show Opening Reception from 6-8 at the Firehouse Galery  427 Laurel Street.  Free.  Refreshments

Friday-Saturday through out this month, The 13th Gate at 832 St Phillip St.  This gets you ready for Halloween with the haunts and frights at one of the scariest haunted house attractions i the country!! Opens at 6:30 p.m. Tickets start at $25.

Want something a little less scary?  Check out Boo at the Zoo!  BREC Baton Rouge Zoo at 3501 Thomas Road has a trick-or-treating extravaganza at the zoo.  Wear your costume, wanter throught the Hay Maze or make a memory at the Safari Snapshot photo both.  Regular admission.  9:30-4 p.m.

Saturday, Oct 17.  Red Stick Farmers Market - always a hit!  8 am.  501 Main Street.  Lots of fall vegetables along with Maggie Heyn Richardso will be cooking up seasonal recipes and discussing her book "Hungry for Louisiana"

Art Scene in Baton Rouge

Instead of talking about homes for sale in the Baton Rouge Real Estate Market, let's talk ART!  The opening reception for the Associated Women in the Arts Summer Show will be held Thursday, July 23rd starting at 5:00 p.m.  The Show runs through the month of August.  Not only do I sell lots of homes, but I also sell lots of my art - so instead of looking at homes for sale, come check out my art for sale!  Hope to see you there!

Things to Do in Baton Rouge Sunday, March 23, 2014

So many things to do on a potential rainy day!  Here are a few choices:

1.  Sesame Street Live, Make a New Friend at 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the Baton Rouge River Center, 275 S River Road.  

2.  River Road African American Museum Presents Ovation:  3 p.m. at the Manship Theatre, 100 Lafayette Street.  This is a fundraiser for Ovation:  Celebration 20 years of Preserving History and Culture.  Semi Formal Attire.  $100  225-344-0334

3.  SPILL, a play and visual installation inspired by the aftermath of the Deepwater HOrizon/BO oil spill.  2 p.m. at the Reilly Theatre on Tower Drive on LSU campus. Presented by Swinepalace

4. Brush with Burden - if it's too rainy to walk the grounds, attend the Brush with Burden Art show features new works of art and photography - a juried show.  Today 1-4.  Open whenever the Burden Gardens are open daily. LSU AgCenter at 4.  Of course, I do have a one of my oil paintings in the show - which won an award at the opening ceremonies yesterday!

5.  Attend a concert at LSU Union Theater with Wycliffe Gordon, Trombonist of the year, performing with the LSU Jazz band!  7:30 p.m.

6.  I heard great reviews of the Theatre Baton Rouge production of Mel Brooks "Young Frankenstein.  Today at 2 p.m. at the Theatre Baton Rouge at 7155 Florida Blvd.  225-924-6496

Get Children Ready for Mardi Gras

July Happenings in Baton Rouge

So many fun things available to keep you inside and cool on these hot summer days.  Here are a few of my picks to entertain you:

Les Miserables - the award winning musical performed by our own Theatre Baton Rouge (Used to be called Baton Rouge Little Theatre - new name).  7155 Florida Blvd. Tickets $29.   Performances through July 21, 2013.

Thursday, July 11, 2013 is the Hot Art Nights in Mid City.  The Elizabethan Gallery has their opening reception that night for the summer show by the Associated Women in the Arts.  Great works on display and for sale (including some by yours truly!)

 

Summer Sounds at St James Concert Series.  Tickets only $10. Wednesday July 10 hear a performance by the Hot Club of New Orleans with a reception to follow.  7 p.m.  St James Episcopal Church, corner of Convention and North Fourth streets downtown Baton Rouge.

Art Shows in Baton Rouge April 20, 2013

Have some more fun this Saturday, April 20, 2013 at some art shows around town where I will be showing my paintings.  First, the Baton Rouge Art League will host their Invitational Art Show at the Burden Rural Life Museum from 4-6 p.m.  This is a painting I have in that show:

Then come on over to N the Art Space at the Settlement at Bocage on Jefferson Hwy across from Bocage Subdivision and next to Regions Bank.  Over 30 artists will have their studios open so you can browse and purchase paintings, jewelry, photographs and more!  We will also have live entertainment too. I'll be hosting my studio from 5-8 p.m.  Come enjoy my art and support your local artists!!

Brush With Burden Art Show

The annual Brush with Burden Art Show opens Saturday, March 2, with an opening reception from 3-6 p.m. at the Orangerie at the Burden Rural Life off Essen Lane in Baton Rouge.  Over 100 artists works will be displayed including sculpture, paintings, and photography.  Come on out and enjoy some good food and art works including the one below by Pat Wattam!
